Development of Functional Probiotics for Prevention of Dementia Based on Oral Metagenome's Project

Kolab Co., Ltd. develops functional probiotics products to prevent dementia with Chonnam National University and Gwangju Institute of Science. This is based on the "Weisella cibaria CMU strain," which has been proven effective in previous studies, to produce functional probiotic prototypes that prevent brain inflammation and suppress dementia by controlling harmful bacteria in the mouth and intestines, and to commercialize them after clinical trials.

 

Gwangju City, Republic of Korea has established an elderly-friendly industrial support center since 2012, and based on this, it has secured about 18,000 various dementia cohort data, including microbiome information, through Chosun University's Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Group and National Dementia Prediction Technology R&D Project.

 

With this project selection, dementia-related companies are expected to continue to participate in new projects, which is expected to further strengthen Gwangju City's position as a mecca for the global dementia industry.
